Tesla finally arrives in India
After years of waiting, Tesla has officially entered India. On 15 July 15, 2025, Tesla opened its first showroom in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla complex. And the first car on offer? The much loved model Y compact SUV sleek, smart, and 100% electric. At the showroom, visitors can check out the car up close, take test drives and book their own Model Y.
Pricey but packed with features
Tesla launched the 2025 refreshed Model Y. Featuring a sharper design, cool new interiors, a rear touchscreen, and an impressive driving range. But here’s the catch:
Base model Y (RWD): ₹60 lakh
Long range RWD: ₹68 lakh
Since Tesla imports these cars from Shanghai, heavy taxes have bumped up the price. It’s a premium ride for sure, with a top range of up to 719 km on single charge and rapid acceleration that’ll thrill car lovers.
Book now, get it by festive season
Booking kicked off on July 15, and if all goes well, the first deliveries will start by August or September, just in time for the festive season. Tesla plans to open its next showroom in Delhi soon. Right now, Tesla is importing cars only, no India manufacturing yet. But who knows? If things go well, we might see Tesla made in India in the future.
Tesla’s Indian debut is exciting for EV fans, though the high price means it won’t fit every budget. Still, it’s a big move for the future of electric cars in India.
