Ritika Chouhan: A shocking case has come to light from Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, where a 15-year-old Dalit minor girl was allegedly lured into religious conversion and taken to Kerala with the intention of training her for terrorist activities. This incident started on May 8, 2025, when the girl went missing from her village in Phulpur area.

According to the police, the girl was first taken to Delhi by train and then transported to Thrissur, Kerala. She was kept there under close watch. Fortunately, she managed to call the Kerala police on June 30, 2025, who rescued her and ensured her safe return to Uttar Pradesh (OpIndia).

Prayagraj police have arrested 19-year-old Daraksha Bano and 25-year-old Mohammad Kaif. who were involved in luring the girl and sending her to Kerala. Police suspect a bigger organised gang behind this incident. During interrogation, the girl revealed that many other minor girls are also being targeted in similar ways.

The girl’s mother filed a complaint on June 26, 2025, stating that the family was receiving threatening calls warning them not to approach the police. The FIR includes charges of forced religious conversion, kidnapping, and criminal conspiracy.

Police have formed three special teams to identify other members of this network. They are also investigating links to any extremist or terrorist organisations. The girl is currently under medical and psychological care at a government one-stop centre.

This incident has triggered fear among Dalit communities, exposing how vulnerable girls are targeted for religious and extremist exploitation. Political parties have condemned the act, calling it a dangerous mix of radicalisation and exploitation of caste-based vulnerabilities.

Police officials said they will seek strict punishment for the accused under anti-conversion and child protection laws. Social workers have demanded awareness programs and background verification systems to prevent such crimes in the future.
