Mumbai: Bollywood is stepping into the trenches of World War II with a high-octane, emotional war drama that has already set social media buzzing. The yet-to-be-titled film will bring together two of India’s most charismatic stars — Hrithik Roshan and NTR Jr. (of RRR fame) — in what promises to be a grand cinematic spectacle blending history, action, and human drama.

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Meghna Gulzar, the project is reportedly inspired by true events from the Eastern theatre of World War II, focusing on the Indo-Burma front where Indian soldiers fought under the British Indian Army against Japanese forces.

A Story of Brotherhood and Sacrifice

The film’s narrative follows the unlikely friendship between Captain Arjun Mehra (Hrithik Roshan), an Indian officer trained in British military strategy, and Subedar Veeranna (NTR Jr.), a fearless soldier from a rural background whose loyalty lies with his homeland. As the war intensifies, both men are forced to navigate not only the brutal realities of battle but also questions of identity, freedom, and sacrifice.

Massive Scale and Authenticity

Production insiders reveal that the makers are sparing no expense to ensure historical authenticity. Battle scenes will be filmed in remote forest locations in Northeast India and Thailand, using real vintage military vehicles and weaponry from the 1940s. International stunt teams have been brought in to choreograph large-scale combat sequences, while Oscar-winning technicians are on board for sound and visual effects.

The Actors Speak

Hrithik Roshan, speaking about the role, said, “This is more than just a war film; it’s a story about humanity in the darkest of times. Playing Captain Arjun has been both physically challenging and emotionally rewarding.”

NTR Jr. added, “Veeranna is a character rooted in courage and resilience. Portraying him is my tribute to all the unsung heroes of that era.”

Release and Expectations

With a budget reportedly exceeding ₹300 crore, the film is set for a multilingual release in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and English. Industry analysts predict it could become one of India’s most successful cross-over war films, appealing to audiences both at home and abroad.

The World War II movie, starring Hrithik Roshan and Ntr jr. , released on 14th August 2025, has garnered strong reviews for its gripping storytelling, stunning visuals, and powerful performances. Critics praise its emotional depth and authenticity. Viewers expect it to become a major box office hit and win multiple awards.
