Report, Kajal Jatav: YouTube has announced that soon it will stop monetizing the content generated from AI. This decision will be implemented from July 15. This move really shows where the platform stands — they’re all about keeping things original and pushing back against the growing wave of fake content.

What does the policy say?

Based on YouTube’s latest rules, if your videos are mostly made with AI tools like text-to-video generators, deepfakes, or AI animation software, they won’t qualify for ad revenue through the YouTube Partner Program anymore.

This also covers videos that use AI for narration, visuals, or characters unless you’re doing something clearly creative or editorial with them—like transforming the content enough to make it your own.

What is the reason behind it?

The platform has brought up concerns about how real the content is, the spread of misinformation, and the drop in viewer trust as main reasons for making this move. As more AI-created videos pop up, it’s getting tougher for viewers—and even the algorithms—to tell what’s genuine and what’s just synthetic.

Because of this, people are starting to criticize how quality is controlled and whether creators are treated fairly. Plus, lots of traditional creators are getting pretty annoyed because AI channels are flooding the site with low-effort, automated videos, yet they still manage to earn money from them.

What YouTube Says?

YouTube has uploaded on its support page that “On July 15, 2025, the sensitive category “Bare Skin (Image Only)” will be removed in Ad categories in YouTube Studio. Those currently using the setting will have until August 15, 2025 before existing blocks will no longer apply. You can use other categories like “Reference to Sex” for finer control over your ads on your channel.”

The has uploaded another statement about (YPP) YouTube Partner Program monetization policy- “In order to monetize as part of the YouTube Partner Program (YPP), YouTube has always required creators to upload “original” and “authentic” content. On July 15, 2025, YouTube is updating our guidelines to better identify mass-produced and repetitious content. This update better reflects what “inauthentic” content looks like today.”

What is AI-Generated content?

Based on YouTube’s new rules, AI-generated videos are those where the main visuals or sounds are made by artificial intelligence, with little to no human touch. This covers things like fully AI-animated videos or deepfakes, videos with AI-created voiceovers or music, fake news reports, interviews, or stories featuring fictional characters, and videos that use AI tools to mimic real people or events.

What’s Next?

YouTube has said they’ll release clear guidelines and examples before July 15, so creators know what’s okay and what’s not. They’re also rolling out new AI content labels and manual review systems to make sure rules are followed effectively.

As AI keeps getting smarter and changing how we make content, this move from YouTube really reflects a bigger conversation happening across the industry about staying authentic, promoting creativity, and handling money ethically. Whether this helps human creators thrive or puts a damper on digital innovation, only time will tell. One thing’s for sure — the world of online content is heading into a whole new phase.
